Welcome to the Nashville Christian’s upper school. Because students must make crucial decisions that impact their futures, the high school years are an important time in a young person’s life.  Accordingly, the upper school focuses on three important cornerstones of a student’s education:  Christ-centeredness, sound academics and leadership opportunities.

At NCS, faculty members openly share their Christian values with students, and instructional time often touches on ethical and character issues.  In addition, students regularly attend Bible classes and chapel and are encouraged to participate and lead. Along with developing the spiritual lives of students, our upper school teachers provide a stimulating academic environment. We are proud to offer an array of challenging honors and dual enrollment classes, which are integrated with a curriculum that successfully prepares our students for the rigors of college academics. Our students are confident when they graduate having had opportunities to become leaders through government organizations like the National Honors Society and a variety of co-curricular activities.

One of the finest characteristics of our school is the sense of community that we share.  Every administrator, faculty member and student enjoy a family atmosphere that is embraced throughout the school. If you visit NCS during college break weeks, you will probably see recent alumni who have come home to visit former teachers and staff.  Attend a high school basketball game and you will see a gym packed with students, parents, board members, teachers and administrators.  We are indeed a community and a family. Much like a family, we only want the best for our “children” when they leave home – to live with Christ at the center of their lives, to use their knowledge and skills for good in our world, and to have confidence in who they are and who God wants them to become.

Sincerely,

Chris Tenpenny
Upper School Principal
